John Picard, famous for his Picard’s Peanut Confectionary Stores, wanted to open a craft brewery. Brewing premium quality beer made from locally produced ingredients was his vision. He had already planted his own hop garden years before he started brewing beer. But he needed a branding solution to launch the new venture.

The Strategy

The Champion of Norfolk County

Most Ontario-based craft breweries can’t seem to wait to get their products stocked at the LCBO, or at the beer monopoly retail outlet. Our recommendation was to forego those channels and focus the brand on being the champion of Norfolk County – its place of origin. The new brewery needed to spring from the DNA that defined its location - and how challenging it can be to find it.
